Tangy Red Fresno Barbeque Sauce
At first glance these eye-catching chile peppers look like red jalapeno. However, they have a different flavor and are less meaty than Jalapeno. Red Fresnos are great roasted and added to salsas. Try grilling them alongside your steaks or in kabobs.
When roasting these they should char, blister, and become soft. Try substituting these in your favorite chile recipes.
Ingredients:
3-5 red Fresno chiles , minced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, minced
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups ketchup
3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2 Tbsp. worchestershire sauce
2 Tbsp. olive oil
salt
Instructions:
Saute the chiles and onion in the olive oil for 8 minutes over medium heat. Combine all the other ingredients and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. If red Fresno chiles are not available, try using caribe, serrano or jalapeno chiles.
Use this sauce with grilled chicken or pork. Since this sauce contains sugar start coating the meat 5 minutes before it is done and then pour over before serving.
