The Heat Passion Cocktail
This Caribbean pepper is famous for being the hottest chile pepper in the world. They come in a variety of shapes and colors (yellow, orange, green, red, chocolate). Not only are they extremely hot, but they also have a unique, distinctively fruity flavor. It is the key ingredient in the popular Jamaican Jerk sauce. The habanero is also widely used in many different types of hot sauces. The popularity of this chile pepper continues to grow and is becoming easier to find on the grocery shelf.
Ingredients
For the drink
- 2 ounces Don Julio Reposado
- 3/4 ounces habanero-infused orange blossom honey syrup
- 1/2 ounce fresh passion fruit purée
- 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
For the infusion
- 16 ounces orange honey blossom
- 8 ounces hot water
- 3 habenero peppers
Instructions:
For the drink
Combine Tequila Don Julio Reposado, habanero-infused orange blossom honey syrup, fresh passion fruit purée, and fresh lemon juice into cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain over ice into a rocks glass.
Garnish with a pineapple leaf and serve over ice.
For the infusion
Place all ingredients into a sauce pan and macerate the peppers. Stir and let sit for 5 minutes. Taste to achieve your desired spice level and then strain.
