Sweet Candied Jalapeno Peppers
Jalapeños are the most popular chile peppers in the US. This is probably due to the availability and versatility of the chile. Jalapeños have a balanced combination of flavor and heat. The demand for these have caused breeders to develop a broad range of varieties.
Ingredients
- 4 Large jalapeno peppers, sliced into rings
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup to 1 cup water
- ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- ½ teaspoon chili pepper powder of your choice
- 1 drop green food coloring
Instructions
- Heat a sauté pan to medium-low heat
- Add water
- Dissolve sugar, Turmeric powder, ginger and chili pepper powder
- Add drop of food coloring
- Stir until sugar is dissolved
- Add jalapeno peppers and simmer 3-4 minutes
- Remove jalapenos and allow to cool
- Repeat several times by adding the jalapeno peppers to the syrup until they are candied
