Sweet and Spicy Tuna with Scallions
These are very hot little firecrackers from the orient. They can be used to add spice to almost any oriental dish. They dry very easily and can be stored and used this way for a long time.
Serves: 2-4
This sweet and spicy tuna with scallions is so simple to make, yet so full of flavor and healthy.
Ingredients
- 250 gr tuna, salted and boiled
- 1 stalk scallions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic
- 4 cloves shallots
- 4 chiles, or to your taste
- ½ tsp fresh ginger, crushed
- ½ medium tomato, cut into 4 pieces
- 1 tbsp coconut sugar (or substitute with brown sugar)
- 1 tbsp oil, I use coconut oil
- ½ cup water
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Add the chiles, coconut sugar, garlic, shallots, and ginger into the mortar. Crush until smooth. Or you can use food processor.
- Heat one tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chili paste and saute for 2 minutes. Add half of the chopped scallions.
- Add the water, tomato and tuna. Stir for 3-5 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Top with the remaining chopped scallions.
