Spicy Thai Mint Julep
These are very hot little firecrackers from the orient. They can be used to add spice to almost any oriental dish. They dry very easily and can be stored and used this way for a long time.
Ingredients:
2 oz bourbon
1/2 oz rich simple syrup (2:1, sugar to water)
1-3 thin slices Thai chile pepper (to taste)
3 sprigs mint
1 sprig Thai basil
mint and Thai basil for garnish
Directions:
Add mint, Thai basil, chile pepper, and simple syrup to the bottom of a julep cup, and muddle lightly.
Add bourbon, fill cup halfway with crushed ice and stir to chill. Top with more crushed ice, garnish with mint, Thai basil, and serve with a straw.
