This Caribbean pepper is famous for being the hottest chile pepper in the world. They come in a variety of shapes and colors(yellow, orange,green, red,chocolate). Not only are they extremely hot, but they also have a unique,distinctively fruity flavor.
It is the key ingredient in the popular Jamaican Jerk sauce. The habanero is also widely used in many different types of hot sauces. The popularity of this chile pepper continues to grow and is becoming easier to find on the grocery shelf.
1 large onion
1 red sweet pepper
1 orange sweet pepper
1 yellow sweet pepper
1 banana, sliced
1-15 oz. can crushed pineapple
1 cup orange juice
4 habanero chiles
1 package sweet Italian sausage
1 package of your favorite sub rolls
Slice the onion and sweet peppers into strips. Dice the habanero chiles and saute until tender. Add the banana, orange juice and pineapple and saute until the banana breaks down.
Separately, on the grill or in an oven, cook the sausage until it is done. Slice the sausage into bite sized pieces and combine with the pepper mixture. Serve on rolls with plenty of your favorite beverages.
