Habanero Margarita

This Caribbean pepper is famous for being the hottest chile pepper in the world. They come in a variety of shapes and colors(yellow, orange, green, red, chocolate). Not only are they extremely hot, but they also have a unique, distinctively fruity flavor.

It is the key ingredient in the popular Jamaican Jerk sauce. The habanero is also widely used in many different types of hot sauces. The popularity of this chile pepper continues to grow and is becoming easier to find on the grocery shelf.

1 bottle of silver tequila (we prefer Patron)
1 fresh orange habanero pepper

Per Margarita:
Juice of 2 limes
1 1/2 ounce habanero infused tequila
1/2 ounce orange liquor
1 Tablespoon agave syrup

Instructions:

The Tequila:
Cut habanero in half. Remove stem. Put habanero in the bottle of tequila. Wait 24 hours (or longer) before use.

Per Margarita:
Shake with ice and strain. Serve on the rocks with salt, if desired. (That’s my preference, but it can be served straight up without ice and salt if you like).
