Garlic Habanero Sour Cream

This Caribbean pepper is famous for being the hottest chile pepper in the world. They come in a variety of shapes and colors (yellow, orange, green, red, chocolate). Not only are they extremely hot, but they also have a unique, distinctively fruity flavor. It is the key ingredient in the popular Jamaican Jerk sauce. The habanero is also widely used in many different types of hot sauces. The popularity of this chile pepper continues to grow and is becoming easier to find on the grocery shelf.

Yields 1/2 Cup

Ingredients:

2 clove of garlic, smashed, peeled and chopped

1-2 habanero pepper, seeded and diced small

1/2 cup of sour cream

1/2 tablespoon light olive oil

kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

 

Instructions:

Heat a small pan with the olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot add the garlic and diced Habanero, saute for 1-2 minutes. Remove off of the heat and add garlic/habanero mixture to a mini food processor. Add the sour cream and season with kosher salt and black pepper. Blend until all the seasoning is mixed throughout and garlic is no longer in big pieces. Chill until ready to use!
