Fruity Guacamole

This Caribbean pepper is famous for being the hottest chile pepper in the world. They come in a variety of shapes and colors(yellow, orange,green, red,chocolate). Not only are they extremely hot, but they also have a unique,distinctively fruity flavor.

It is the key ingredient in the popular Jamaican Jerk sauce. The habanero is also widely used in many different types of hot sauces. The popularity of this chile pepper continues to grow and is becoming easier to find on the grocery shelf.

Ingredients:

2 avocados
juice of one lime
1/4 yellow onion, diced
1 mango, peeled and diced
1/2 yellow peach, peeled and diced
1/2 Granny Smith apple, peeled and diced
1/4 habanero pepper, seeds removed, minced (optional)
1 tablespoon fresh chopped basil
2 tablespoons fresh chopped cilantro
salt & pepper to taste

Instructions:

Cut each avocado in half, remove the pit, and slice the flesh into small cubes. Scoop the cubes into a medium bowl, and mash with a fork until chunky.

Stir in the lime juice, diced onion, mango, peaches, apple, habanero pepper (if using), basil, and cilantro. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Enjoy!
