Fresh Tamarind with Chile and Lime

Ingredients:
6-8 plump tamarind pods
juice of 2-3 fresh limes
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. ground chiles (cascabel, dearbol or anchos
1/2 tsp. citric acid (optional)
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
Instructions:
Peel the tamarind pods and then dip them in the lime juice.(If you have fresh limes it may be easier to simply squeeze the lime juice over the pods.) Dip the pods in a mixture of sugar, ground chile, salt and citric acid.
